Gig Information

This Life is both brand new and well established as it builds on the sonic story of some celebrated kiwi music innovation. Formed by two of the members of the iconic NZ post punk acts Alms for Children and Flying Nun’s This Sporting Life, the band reworks the past and delivers brand new songs that build on their original sounds.

For their Christchurch event they are joined by Nexit and Sawdust.
For their Auckland event they are joined by Stridulators and Jed Town playing Fetus Productions.

With a reputation for their riff based, brittle angular sounds and often inventing material in sound check to play that night, This Life are determined to keep the energy firmly post, post punk. For these dates the band is joined by guest Rex Vizible and for one night at Auckland's Audio Foundation by Paul Fogarty from the original AFC/TSL line up.

A release of the original bands back catalogue of vinyl and unheard live recordings was well received in 2018 and is unpacked in the interview below with Kiran Dass on RNZ.

If you want to get into the time machine you can see This Sporting Life in 82’ at a Flying Nun party at Auckland’s Rhumba Bar in the clip below.
