About the Festival

As well as around 40 performances of music (see day-by-day event listings below), Pyramid Power 2019 will feature:

- '40 Years of Wellington's Sonic Underground in Posters' exhibition @ Thistle Hall Gallery 1-4 May 11am-6:30pm.

- 'Inner City Outer Worlds Sound Walk'. Curated by Sonorous Circle, this 45 minute sound walk will explore Upper Cuba Street's back alleys and trace the history of Wellington's creative music community in sound. Available throughout the festival from Thistle Hall Gallery (bring headphones).

- 'Wellington Independent Maker's Market' on Sat 4th 12-5pm @ Thistle Hall Gallery. A chance for you to peruse the wares of local musicians, artists and craftspeople. With performances (see below).

One of the themes of the festival is new collaborations and we have curated some special one-off match-ups that should prove to be fascinating and historic meetings of musical minds:
Motte w/ Omit
King Homeboy w/ Jonny Marks
Jeff Henderson w/ Gamelan Padhang Moncar
Cave Circles w/ Meeps

Composer Rosie Langabeer has been commissioned to write a new piece for large ensemble especially for the festival.

Other performers include K-Group, Negative Nancies, Rachel Shearer, Cave n Bush, Big Flip the Massive, Ursula le Sin, Kraus, Gorge, IRD, Buffalo Bunny, Ludus, Hermione Johnson, Oksun Ox and many more.
