Lucked Up presents: Alexander Luck and the Wet Bandits, hitting the road this summer and taking their indie pop rock bangers to the greater North Island. Starting in Auckland at the Portland Public House (Jan 8), these indie heavy hitters will be trekking their way down through Hamilton at the Nivara lounge (Jan 10), and back to their hometown at the Taradale Tav for a last show (Jan 17). Joining the Bandits on tour, the van is packed with some of Hawkes Bays finest up and coming musical artists including Joe Cole, and Nick Herbison, do not miss HB Summer Sounds on this January.
Alexander Luck (and the Wet Bandits) is a Kiwi singer-songwriter and record producer based in Napier, New Zealand. He began to self produce and release music online in 2018 under the name “Wet Bandits”, with two EP’s and an LP out to date. Following streaming success online, completing a NZ North Island tour and playing support and headline shows in Europe, he has since focused more on a solo career. Since, he has produced and released the solo “So Far” EP and two singles this year, with plans of a longer project release and tours of New Zealand and Australia in 2020. Taking musical influences from a wide range of genres/styles, including the likes of Kings of Leon, Ben Howard, RHCP, and Chet Faker. Alexander’s Luck’s sound is a consistent blend of mellow alternative indie, with strong ties to pop and rock influences.
Joe Cole is a folk singer/songwriter From the Windy hills of Wellington, bringing you his original twist on folk/indie rock. His inspirations range from Passenger and Sticky Fingers to Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. Joe has been based in napier since 2016 and has since built a fond following within the local scene, with many successful local shows and events over the last few years. Following the release of Joe's debut album Robots Vs Zombies this year, he has since released a music video for his track Girls, and is taking his original sound to the wider North Island this summer.
Nick Herbison is a New Zealand based singer/songwriter who is passionate about writing music with a positive message. He aims to improve the wellness of human-beings and encourage individuals to become the best version of themselves in each moment. Taking wide inspiration from artists such as Ben Howard, Jack Johnson, and Matt Corby, Nicks sound explores the depths psychedelic and surf rock, while keeping strong ties to his acoustic roots. After spending time writing and recording in Vanuatu this year, Nick is back on NZ shores and ready to spread his tunes across the country.
