This August 1st Dunedin-based band Oscar LaDell and Hoot are coming up to Lyttleton for a joint celebration of international blues day and of the release of LaDell's debut album Gone Away. This will be a standing show, so come prepared to dance to some original Rock, Blues and Soul.
About the band:
This tight 4-piece original blues band from Dunedin, is freshly cut food for the soul. Frontman and second generation blues singer Oscar LaDell expertly leads each tune with stirring, velvety vocals and dynamic lead guitar licks. Nestled right in there behind him is Ruairi Griffin’s shimmery rhythm guitar hooks, punctuated by Oliver Robson’s solid bass riffs and Rani Cohen’s funk infused drumming. Hoot’s set rambles through songs of hardship and longing to hypnotic crescendos that work any audience into a fever. These boys really know how to howl.
