Lars Von Trio is an instrumental rock band from Ōtepoti Dunedin. Its members are Craig Monk (guitar), Tenzin Mullin (bass), and Greg Cairns (drums).
A new band of old hands, their past includes Cloudboy, Suka, Animalypse, and The Renderers, and their present Heka, Jay Clarkson And The Containers, The Broken Heartbreakers, and Marineville.
Together they play fiery, improvised rock, and scruffy, dusted lullabies, conjuring sets of mesmerising, psychedelic jams.
Their music traverses genres in ways that confuse even themselves, although fans say their sound lies somewhere between Dirty Three and Gang of Four.
This will be a true gig of the Level 2 era, with sign-in, table seating, distancing, and an intimate capacity of just 50. Also, masks are cool.
