Sibling synth-pop band Brother Sister are a 3 piece group made up of Dave (synth & vox), Taz
(bass and vox) and Ben Thomson (drums).

Brother Sister grew up on a steady diet of 80s film and saturday morning cartoons, which has been a huge influence on the bands sound and visuals.

“Our first song was written on our toy synthesizer our parents gave us for christmas “The Casio Rapman” and recorded onto cassette tape with our family gettoblaster…” said Dave Thomson.

Coming from a background of punk, hardcore, nerdcore they have all been playing music, and performing throughout New Zealand since high school.

Dave and Ben’s previous project, future-pop act Alex the Kid adorned star trek uniforms and steampunk attire on stage, whist younger sister Taz has cut her teeth playing bass in punk and hardcore acts such as Master Blaster and Club Stupid.

This EP is rich with the definitive sounds of the ’80s, but offers enough stylistic differences to qualify as a fresh take. Whilst some of the era’s more iconic hits like Soft Cell’s Tainted Love and A Flock of Seagulls’ I Ran (So Far Away) were quite sharp and staccato in their keyboard lines, Brother Sister use the synth to make their songs flow, with a beat you can imagine walking down the street to. - NZ Musician

Like Hanson but angry. They definitely sang like punks, but the statement was still ironic, considering how bouncy this band of siblings' tunes were. There's no BS about Brother Sister; they played the most straightforward, synth-heavy garage rock of the night, earning the honour of Most Danceable Setlist. With a splash of deadpan humour and fantastic audience interaction... - Reece Skelley, Radio 13
