River folk: Yann Le Dorré, Alex Guy, and Victoria Ferry will be playing a few sets at MOON on the 12th of March. Extolling the virtues of slow boat travel down gentle streams.
Yann Le Dorré sings saturnine folk songs for modern times and the stars too high in the sky. Drawing from 70’s singer-songwriters, outlaw country legends and 90’s grunge acts, he writes for the divorces and drunkards in a series of acoustic reports from the rain-drenched capital.
Alex Guy plays folk music inspired by the late vagabonds and troubadours who never found home but had a real good time trying, he plays with a classic fingerpicked style (sometimes using more than the first 3 frets) and spins tales in an attempt to bring a little magic back onto the pavement.
Victoria Ferry is a local Pōneke musician specialising in folk-flavoured original music. You can expect hints of Gillian Welch, Laura Marling and other folk inspirations in Victoria’s soul-full tunes. Come along and essentially get a personal life update based on the intimate nature of her song writing.
