HIGH ALTAR unveil an intense crackle of spectral sounds with their sonic form of 'neon jazz'. This two-piece is a potent audio tool built on a bare-bones structure of rhythm section components and added electronic timbre which alights a crooked path across musical, religious and subcultural frontiers; trailing vortices with oscillatory behavior.
TJOPI is Popi Newbery (Tūhoe and Ngati Porou) and Tjalling de Vries. They create semi industrial layers of field recordings, synth, sheetmetal feedback and looped samples that provide a sinister soundscape for Popi's toi kupu and reinterpreted waiata in both te reo and english.
DJ COMBOVER will play the tunes to conceal our musical bald spots.
