Extra Butter Live in Matakana

Born from a jam session between three mates and two strangers, Extra Butter have grown into a six-piece indie rock/alternative outfit from Te Whanganui-a-Tara that’s equal parts groove, grit, and introspection. With vocals, saxophone, guitar, bass, keys, and drums in full swing, their sound conjures everything from cicada-season backyard hangs and smoke-filled speakeasies to gravel pits under the sun.
Their debut EP Zephyr showcased the band’s formative years, while their latest single Fever Dream marks the beginning of a new body of work exploring the paradoxes of love, relationships, and the human condition. Extra Butter are an evolving unit part ear treat, part emotional excavation, and their live show brings it all together with energy, texture, and intent.
Joining them in Matakana are Honey for Jupiter. First conceptualised by singer-songwriter Tee in 2022, the project has grown from bedroom demos into a full live band delivering self-produced tracks that blend fun melodies with dreamy, 90s-tinged indie tones. Expect infectious tunes that invite you to dance, cry, and sing along as Honey for Jupiter channel the spirit of where it all began.
