Jonathon Harper has set a few records for giving concerts as a New Zealand musician. After 33 years full time on the road here and overseas, he has given well over 300 professional public concerts here, in Australia, England and in Italy.
His Guitar Sonata Impressions of Rome has been featured on Radio NZ concert, ABC Sydney, and he has appeared on National Radio and TV1.
His ROADWORKS tour surveys and commemorates those decades of touring as a fulltime concert artist. Most of the music is Harper’s own compositions reflecting his life on the road where he met many interesting people and visited many interesting locations. Along the way, he has performed with many diverse musicians from Italy, Chile, Dalmatia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Bolivia. He has performed with orcherstral violinists, a flutist, a Blues singer, and Latin, and Jazz musicians.
The instrumentals are like beautiful postcards from some of our wild and inspiring places including Punakaiki, Riwaka (describing a friend who went everywhere in his wagon pulled by a Clydesdale horse).
The distinctice Harper style has also been built on his many collaborations with Latin, Folk, Rock, Flamenco, and Classical musicians who live here in Aotearoa. Harper has also toured and given concerts in Australia (where he played on ABC radio in Sydney), England, and Italy (he and his wife were based for six months in Rome)
THIS TOUR (October 2025)
Includes another performance at Le Café in Picton, and three Retirement Vilages in Nelson followed by two in Marlborough.
AMIGOS

They have performed at many big outdoor venues and festivals including The Waipara Food and Wine Fest, Canterbury University (an outdoor extravaganza with over 1,000 students), Americas Cup celebration (over 30,000 people) and many more. Harper has performed at many festivals solo or with other musicians including the Hamilton Gardens, and Bay of Islands Festivals.
AMIGOS play again on the mainstage at the A & P show in Christchurch next month. Around 20,000 people are expected to attend…
