Just Janie is emerging as a compelling new voice in Aotearoa folk and Americana. Born and raised in Central Otago, she grew up writing songs tucked beneath the Hawkdun Ranges. With her EP ‘Muse and Musician’ surpassing a million streams, she earned praise from The Spinoff (NZ), observing: “If you find yourself on a hike this weekend… daydreaming about Laurel Canyon, it might be the perfect time for Just Janie’s Muse and Musician.”
Just Janie’s single 'Musings in the Breakfast Aisle’gained her recognition as a 2024 Ōtautahi OMAP artist (Saltbox Studios & RDU 98.5FM). 'A vocally rich and powerful lament of indecision, the song was part of the menu on NZ On Air‘s February 2025 New Tracks compilation' NZ Musician (NZ).
Just Janie released her new single ‘Cherry’ on August 8th, and is beginning her album phase for 'Mythology of the Girls', a debut album set for release in Autumn 2026. Just Janie & Sig Wilder (with their band) have also recorded and filmed a 10-track ‘live album’ which is set to be released at the end of 2026.
