Prepare thyselves for a plethora of uber creative acts at the esteemed SECRET LOCATION lounge venue situated within Blackbird Records, 132 Jellicoe Street in Te Puke on Saturday 29 November!
The Inth'way Mangosteen Experience offers heavily guitar laden riffs and soloing over funked up arrangements which altogether provide a solid wall of sound over which the psychedelic and dream inspired oratory of storyteller and singer Mama Hollywood takes form.
Their genre busting approach to producing dynamic music offerings creates an immersive and captivating experience for their audiences.
Coupled with engaging and surreal animated video to accompany their guitar and vocal spearheaded approach, the resulting transformative gestalt experience yields a sometimes familiar but also sometimes challenging listening environment, which is designed to keep you on your sharpest edge at all times.
Tonights concert will be the first public outing for the pair since their previous performances at the Tauranga Fringe Festival, Littleweed Festival and The Jam Factory.
Kyle Sattler is a Tauranga-based multidisciplinary artist, musician, and recording artist whose practice spans a broad spectrum of experimental methodologies, and tonight he performs as the synth-punk solo project WE WILL RIDE FAST, a multimedia endeavour once described as “what Robocop’s band would be if he were allowed to express feelings.”
The project features a genre-blending sonic palette of fuzzy synths, pulsing new-wave electronics, and goth-inflected rhythms, serving as an aural extension of Sattler’s post-punk ontological investigations.
As Captain Houndstooth strides onto the stage, be ready to Immerse yourself in a poetic journey where words come alive through powerful, visceral delivery. Dressed in a delightfully outdated yet striking Houndstooth jacket and hat, this performance transforms poetry into a vibrant art form.
Explore themes of rebellion, love and loss, and societal critique with raw wit and emotional depth. Each poem is paired with a bespoke musical backdrop, with rhythms and sounds carefully crafted to enhance the mood and tone. This integration of music and verse creates a rich, multi-sensory experience that deepens each moment.
The performance moves through a spectrum of moods—light-hearted, intense, and reflective—keeping the audience engaged and stirred. Natural interactions with the audience add a personal touch, making the experience both intimate and expansive.
For those seeking a poetic journey that transcends traditional boundaries, this is a must-see.
Doors at 7PM, $10 entry, licensed offerings available for the over 18's but all ages welcome with non alcoholic refreshments for sale at the venue.
