Weekly Round Up: Friday 11th September

Weekly Round Up: Friday 11th September

Friday 11th September, 2015 1:40PM

After a couple of bonza weeks of tour news, this week kinda ground to a halt. However, we were certainly pleased to learn that Christchurch trio Salad Boys have announced a string of shows for October, after they return from their extensive tour around the States to support the release of debut album Metalmania (which is out next week). We were also happy to hear that Laneway Festival has been secured to take place at Silo Park for 2016, clearing the cloud of uncertainty as to the festival's future that had gathered last month. On top of that, we caught word that the line-up announcement is set to take place on 22nd September, so keep your eyes peeled!!

In release news, we've been digging The Shaka Tape dropped by Auckland rapper and producer L V J earlier this week. Also released out of the blue was Rough As Guts, a collection of songs by Tim Moore, the ex-pat musician who penned the song 'Dark Child' which features on Marlon Williams' album and is up for a Silver Scroll award next week. We copped some new material from the Auckland punk outfit Shitripper, who are now going by the name Master Blaster (like this dude). Looking a little further from home Kurt Vile unveiled the second single from his forthcoming album, along with a cute animated video. And Portland synth-pop group Chromatics shared new single 'Shadow' which will feature on their new album, however no release date has been revealed yet.

This week's Caught Live is some great footage of Cherry Glazerr performing at Burger a-Go-Go 2 in California a few days ago...
