Video: October - Switchblade (UTR Premiere)
Nineteen-year-old self-taught musician October (aka Emma Logan) knocked our socks off last year when she surfaced with her debut single 'Voids', and then she raised the game when she recently released the fantastic Switchblade EP. Now the Auckland-based teen has emerged with a powerful video for the EP's eponymous single - a moody clip that draws inspiration from the fierce female characters in cult film Kill Bill, as Logan explains below...
"In this video I kill off my inner demons; a face-off with the male perception of myself as a female producer. I am taking off the 'doe-eyed and docile' façade I’ve been forced to wear, and showing the much grittier, severe and aggressive interior of my being. In this video, it is the male who becomes the faceless object, and I who is the fearless subject."
The video was directed by Connor Hickey and Jacob Beullens, with Logan taking the helm as creative director. Feast your eyes below...
October is supporting Broods on their upcoming tour, see below for details.
