Weekly Round Up: Friday 9th December
Tour news wasn't all that abundant this week, but there was a few gold nuggets. Atlantan rapper Young Thug was added to the line-up for next year's Laneway Festival, which will take place at its new home in the Albert Park precinct. Brooklyn-based expat Leila Adu announced four home turf shows over the summer. And the second line-up was revealed for Hamilton Under Press' inaugural Future City Festival, and it's shaping up to be a goodie.
While things were quiet in tour announcements, the release news was more fruitful. The Jesus And Mary Chain revealed details for their first studio album in 18 years and shared killer lead single 'Amputation'. Alt supergroup Crystal Fairy shared new cut 'Chiseler' as they gear up to release their debut album through Ipecac next February. Coming out of the woodwork is At The Drive-In (whose Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is coincidentally in Crystal Fairy), who shared their track 'Governed By Contagions' from their as-yet-untitled LP - their first in 16 years. And the slightly more prolific Ryan Adams announced his 16th studio album and shared first single 'Do You Still Love Me?'. Locally, Girls Pissing On Girls Pissing shared amazing new single 'Lustration' as they ready to release a double album and tarot deck. And Christchurch artist French Concession premiered her stunning self-directed video for 'At Knifepoint'.
This week's Caught Live is Auckland outfit Roidz performing their song 'Bad @ Sex' when they toured in LA recently...
