Weekly Round Up: Friday 3rd March

Weekly Round Up: Friday 3rd March

Friday 3rd March, 2017 3:15PM

In tour news this week we were thrilled to announce that Irish punk originators The Undertones are heading this way for the first time ever in July as part of their 40th anniversary tour. Pioneering free improv drummer Sabu Toyozumi is gracing our shores later this month for an eight-show tour with a special locally formed quartet. English outfit Ocean Colour Scene lined up two New Zealand shows for November. Dream pop outfit Yumi Zouma are embarking on a three-date autumn tour before heading into the studio to lay down their new record. And the final line-up was revealed for the inaugural Oro Festival and sees Underworld joined by Jeru The Damaja, Dj Phil Hartnoll, Dave Seaman and more.

In release news this week of course the big unveiling was Lorde's new single 'Green Light' which is the first taste of her second album Melodrama out later this year. We were also delighted to see a new single from multi-instrumental Wellington resident Grayson Gilmour, which came with an incredible 360° spatial audio video. Speaking of videos Kane Strang dropped a banger of a clip for his latest single 'Oh So You're Off I See'. Meanwhile Future Islands shared an awesome visual offering for their stirring new cut 'Run'. And on the streaming front, post-rock instrumentalists Hiboux dropped their debut album Command The Earth To Swallow Me Up. Folk artist Nadia Reid unveiled her highly-anticipated second full-length album Preservation. And psych-garage goodies King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard cut loose their first album for 2017 - and there's four more on the way.

This week's Caught Live is some fan-shot footage the wonderful Tami Neilson ripping through 'Reap What You Sow' at the Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg a few days ago...
