Weekly Round Up: Friday 2nd June
In tour news this week we were happy to announce that Aussie weirdo/treasure Kirin J Callinan is coming over for two shows in July as part of his Bravado album release tour. Verbose rapper Aesop Rock is making his way to Auckland for one special show as part of an Australian tour in September. Also in September, Louisville's Bryson Tiller will be hitting up the Logan Campbell Centre with his smooth blend of hip hop, RnB and trap. That same month will see The Jayhawks' Mark Olson coming to the country with his current partner-in-crime Ingunn Ringvold. And on the local side of things, dub 'n' bass pioneers Salmonella Dub have lined up a handful of 25th anniversary shows for the new year that will see them joined by old mate Tiki Taane.
In this week's release news, highlights include a gorgeous cover of Aldous Harding's striking song 'Imagining My Man' by Mice On Stilt's frontman Benjamin Morley. SoccerPractise popped up out of the blue to share their awesome new single 'Amene'. Hardcore punk crew Master Blaster lifted the lid off their new track 'To All My Friends' along with a great Weekend At Bernie's themed clip. And while we're on the subject of videos, Wellington's Hiboux let loose a video for 'Standing Waves' before they hit the road for their trans-Tasman tour. Meanwhile, P.H.F shared a video for 'Soft' that sees the track's lyrics come to light. And after 20 years, Radiohead finally unearthed long sought after single 'I Promise' as they ready to release the deluxe re-issue of 1997's OK Computer.
This week's Caught Live is Dunedin duo Ov Pain as captured last weekend at None Gallery by King Loser's Lance Strickland aka Tribal Thunder...
