Weekly Round Up: Friday 7th July
Not a lot of tour news came out of the woodwork this week, but it was certainly a case of quality over quantity as some awesome local shows got announced. Hot on the heels of her sell-out Auckland shows, the formidable Aldous Harding announced four dates around the country for later in the year, which will be supported by The Chills own Martin Phillipps. Coming home from a successful jaunt of Europe, Fazerdaze and band revealed two North Island dates for September, that might be her only NZ shows for the rest of the year as she skips back across the globe right after. And Shayne P. Carter announced a four-date tour for August which will see him joined by a band to perform songs from his latest album Offsider, as well as a swathe of songs from his back catalogue.
In release highlights, we were stoked to get our hands on the brand new song from Die! Die! Die!, which also signals the impending release of sixth full-length album Charm. Offensive. Recently formed Hamilton outfit Hedge Fund Trader dropped their debut cassette Discography that featured the most excellent cut 'And I Made Up Lies So That They All Fit Nice'. Coming out of Wellington, multi-instrumentalist Ben Hemi shared a gorgeous collection of songs under the moniker Courtesy Caller. While further abroad, St Vincent let loose her first single in two years with the piano-driven 'New York'. And UK producer Four Tet shared a chill new instrumental tune called 'Two Thousand and Seventeen'.
This week's Caught Live is Ryan Adams at a recent show in Seattle where he ad-libbed a wee tune about Bruce Springsteen and his teleprompter...
