Weekly Round Up: Friday 8th September
In tour news this week, Bic Runga announced a rare jaunt around the country to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her seminal debut album Drive. Doe-eyed hip hop superstar Drake revealed one Auckland date for November. Foo Fighters announced a cracker of a show for February that will see them joined by the one and only Weezer and supported by Wellington's Ayn Randy. Silver Scroll nominee Nadia Reid has lined up three shows around the country for October which will follow her return from an extensive tour of the UK and Europe. And in festival news, Christchurch will be getting a dose of doom with the inaugural Blazed & Confused fest announced for early December.
In release news highlights, we were over the moon to present a gorgeous acoustic rendition of 'In The Nightfall' from The Veils and at the same time managed a good chinwag with frontman Finn Andrews. We also got to catch up with the now-Berlin-based group Moses and share their fantastic new single 'Greater Than Me'. The good folk from The Naenae Express dropped a timely wee ditty about going out and voting, aptly titled 'Go Out And Vote'. The Pleasure Majenta finally let loose their full-length record In Your Dreams for streaming online. And from further abroad, we got a bit swoony about the new track from Godspeed You! Black Emperor's upcoming album.
This week's Caught Live is a wicked clip of Wellington's Earth Tongue at The Others Way festival in Auckland last Friday. The video was shot by Paul Roberston, who captured a whole bunch more goodness from the evening that you can check out on his blog Hear More Tunes, and head over here for our photographic coverage...
