Johnny Jewel Of Chromatics Drops Album 'Themes For Television' + Video
US multi-instrumentalist Johnny Jewel is known to local ears for his work with noir-ish synth-loving trailblazers Chromatics and Glass Candy, as well as helming taste-making label Italians Do It Better. A selection of Jewel's solo material was recently featured on David Lynch's mind-boggling television event Twin Peaks: The Return, he's now followed up on those televisual contributions with an evocative twenty one track collection of imaginary soundtracks titled Themes For Television. It's a big year for the artist, as Chromatics have re-emerged with their long-awaited album Dear Tommy finally out this spring after Jewel reportedly destroyed the original recordings following a near-death experience, then re-recorded them from scratch. Jewel described his feelings around the album in a statement, saying...
"The project began as a sonic exploration of the sounds I was hearing in my nightmares. I wanted to find my way out of the maze by focusing on beauty over fear — like the way the fractured sunrise looks in a dream."
