Christchurch's Zhukov Unleash Self-Titled Debut Collection
Cantabrian hardcore punk crew Zhukov have dropped their self-titled debut EP. The whiplash collection was recorded at The Dogshit Factory and mastered by Brian Feary - of the seven tracks only opener ‘Guiltonine Cult’ surpasses the two-minute mark and even then, only just. Zhukov's sound merges the influences of its members' other bands - vocalist Dan Richardson’s gravelly growl recalls the furious snarl of Arm & Hammer, catchy gang vocals sound akin to Blame Thrower (of which guitarist Luke Penrose was a driving force), and infectious basslines recall the skate-inducing pop-punk of Nervous Jerk, which features drummer Johnny Fast and bassist Brad Wright. Auckland punters can catch Zhukov this Saturday at Whammyfest 2018, listen to their debut collection here…
