Pussy Riot 'Riot Days' Dunedin Show Announced

Russian feminist punk rockers Pussy Riot have continued their rollout of New Zealand shows, following yesterday's announcement of a Christchurch event at Blue Smoke with the news they'll be bringing their acclaimed multimedia Riot Days performance event to Dunedin's New New New Corporation in mid-March. Originally in Aotearoa for a headline performance at Auckland Town Hall, they're reportedly still here due to the cancellation of previously arranged events in Brazil. The headline grabbing group are now travelling around New Zealand with the aid of local organisers to recoup funds to cover their visit down under. They'll next be appearing at a "surprise mini FemFest" happening at Auckland's Pah Homestead this weekend, hot on the heels of spontaneous performances at Splore Music Festival and last weekend's Ihumātao Reclamation Festival protest event.

Merging music, dance, theatre, protest and projected visuals, Riot Days is an accompanying piece to Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina's memoir of the same name – telling the story of the politically charged collective, who gained "global notoriety in 2012 when three members, Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekaterina Samutsevich were imprisoned for “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” for their performance inside Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour".
