CHAII Shares Debut Single ‘Digebasse (Enough)’ + Video

Friday 8th March, 2019 2:52PM

NZ-raised Persian rapper CHAII (fka Gnome) has shared a powerful audio-visual combo titled ‘Digebasse (Enough)’. Self-produced by the artist and rapped in both English and Farsi, mixing duties for the club-bumping, low-end heavy track were fielded by the legendary Sylvia Massy, who visited Aotearoa last year as part of RMNZ's New Zealand Producer Series. Described as "a positive shout out to cover-up couture" CHAII's self-directed clip for ‘Digebasse (Enough)’ was filmed against the visually spectacular backdrop of Oman. Previously only viewable on Facebook, her video quickly went viral on that platform, and can now be viewed on YouTube and streamed via Spotify for the first time. Experience ‘Digebasse (Enough)’ below, catch CHAII performing at Auckland's Whammy Bar tonight as part of the female focussed Milk & Honey Festival celebrating International Women's Day, and read her words on the genesis of the clip...

“My concept was simply a commute. A journey through places and people, spreading loving vibes. At the same time, putting a positive light on middle east. I was doing this in respect to all the underground artists who have to hide away because of their art. Covering up felt empowering and badass.

This song is very close to my heart and I hope it can be the chant and voice of people. Music is a universal language and I hope to spread that love, and make people dance, and say ‘enough’ to anything they want an end to. We have a voice, we have a choice.”

You can catch CHAII tonight at Auckland’s Whammy Bar as part of the nationwide celebration of International Women’s Day that is the Milk & Honey Festival.
