Proud Scum First Ever Wellington Show Announced

Proud Scum First Ever Wellington Show Announced

Monday 1st April, 2019 12:00PM

Auckland punk pioneers Proud Scum are one of the many acts featured on the scene-defining AK79 compilation, with their rowdy classics 'I Am A Rabbit', 'Suicide' and that song's cheeky follow-up single 'Suicide 2' being permanently etched into the classroom desk of New Zealand music history. Originally formed in 1979 by the awesomely named team of Jonathan Jamrag, John Atrocity, Alastair Rabbit, and Bruce Diode (with Atrocity eventually being replaced by Sid Scum), the trailblazing group have returned for active duty for a special performance at Auckland's Punk It Up get-together in May (alongside peers The Spelling Mistakes and Newmatics), and have now announced they'll finally be playing their first ever Wellington show at the capital's home of noisy guitars Valhalla. Get stuck in to the details below...

Press release:

Hot off their "nearly a decade in the making" reformation for last year's Punk It Up (the last ever punk show at The Kings Arms), the lads have decided that once wasn't enough to satisfy their cravings for some loud noisy fun, so they've got their shit together again for this year’s Punk It Up show in Auckland.

As well as that, they thought they'd make the reunion even better by heading South and using their cacophony making skills for the first time ever in the Kiwi capital, the night before they grace the stage at Zwines again.

Wellington should get ready for a night of hijinks featuring classic New Zealand punk ditties like "I am a Rabbit", "Suicide", and even "Suicide 2". Pogo the night away with some beautiful noise from one of the most well-known bands of the first wave of Kiwi punk.

Joining them for the gig is Wellington's own The Makos, and guests TBA
