Repulsive Woman Shares Single 'Rough Around The Edges'
Dunedin's Repulsive Woman, the solo project of Millie Lovelock (Astro Children), has unveiled the first single from her upcoming debut album Relief, after previously teasing fans with the announcement of a trio of launch events at Auckland's The Wine Cellar, Dunedin's St Paul's Cathedral and Wellington's Meow in May. Titled 'Rough Around the Edges', the songwriter's new tune is an intimate, acoustic guitar-driven reflection on the social repercussions of going against the grain, pairing minimal and affecting instrumentation with melancholic lyricism. Lovelock explains, “I wanted 'Rough Around the Edges' to capture the anxiety of always looking like the bad guy, of always being too prickly, too abrupt, too prepared to stick up for yourself... For me it's an anxiety that runs parallel to the fear of being too exposed, so soft and vulnerable that I am lost in between”.
Repulsive Woman's touring band includes Adelaide Dunn (Milpool), Julie Dunn (Mary Berry) and Olive Butler (Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, Laney Blue), and will be supported in Auckland by Being.. Grip the tour details here and listen to 'Rough Around The Edges' below...
