Watch Fimo's Animated Video For 'Sugar Soap'
Those who caught Fimo's launch party for their debut collection True Love Fades at Tāmaki Makaurau's Wine Cellar experienced an emotionally moving and booty-shaking set, which was so fun they played at least one song twice! The duo of Moe Zass (Bandicoot, $noregazzzm, scabs) and Amelia Berry (Polyester, Amamelia) are now currently separated by the Tasman Sea, but in lieu of any scheduled upcoming live appearances, fans can savour a new stop-motion animated video for student radio hit 'Sugar Soap'. The visual creation of Madison van Staden (Moody.v and the Menstrual Cycle), the colourful claymation clip – made from the band's namesake – deftly channels the song's magically romantic qualities, while packing considerable emotional heft via minimal and malleable words and imagery.
The hard-working Amelia Berry has a new solo single out this week as Amamelia too (from the forthcoming NZ Electro 2020 collection) and is helping kick off "Auckland's premier queerbo pop-punk band" Babyteeth, making their debut at Saturday's Loud And Proud Queer Music Festival at Audio Foundation.
