Amamelia Drops Single 'Sad And Lonely' Feat. Junny

Tāmaki Makaurau electronic artist Amamelia (Amelia Berry of Polyester, Fimo, Babyteeth) and vocalist Junny (Jennifer-Rose Tamati) have reignited the creative flame that made their interstellar cyber-funk banger 'Give Me Space' so swish, with new collaborative single 'Sad and Lonely'. On the latest teaser for Amamelia's forthcoming debut collection WOW via plucky NZ imprint Sunreturn Records, the duo gift us their own dancefloor friendly take on an iso-anthem. Emotionally deep synth melodies and skittering liquid drum 'n' bass grooves sweep listeners away to exotic realms, as Junny intones "If you're feeling sad and lonely" while sounding beamed in from another dimension.

Amamelia described the sleep-deprived origins of 'Sad And Lonely': "It started off as a track during a real tough time for me. I wasn't sleeping, I would just stay up all night listening to Bossa Nova records. I tried to make a track that evoked some of that wistful melancholy feeling. I revisited it a bunch of times but it never was quite right. Then, while me and Jenn were recording vocals for another track we had some extra time, so tracked a couple of lines for ​Sad and Lonely.​ That really made it click, made it more personal and direct."
