Watch Protomartyr's Videos For 'I Am You Now' / 'Day Without End' / 'June 21'
Famously acid-tongued Detroit post-punks Protomartyr have been drip-feeding fans individual clips from their new "visual album" Ultimate Success Today, which streamed in full late last week (via RSVP) and is being slowly revealed in discrete chunks for casual viewing. 'I Am You Now', 'Day Without End' and 'June 21' dropped online over the past two days, with individual creative teams bringing their own visual flair to Protomartyr's stormy sonics. Producer Autry René Fulbright's animated video for 'I Am You Now' is a tersely monochromatic crime thriller dissolving into abstraction, director Dominic Ciccodicola's atmospheric 'Day Without End' explores the poetics of sometimes bleak interstitial roadside spaces and places, and director Ashley Armitage brings tense choreographed suburban imagery to the motorik grooves of 'June 21'. Joining earlier clips for 'Michigan Hammers', 'Worm in Heaven' and 'Processed By The Boys', by our count there should still be four more vids on their way – dive into this week's drop from Protomartyr here...
'Ultimate Success Today' is out now via Domino Record Co.
