Listen To The Opawa 45s' 'Only Boring People Get Bored'
Hitting Tāmaki Makaurau in mid-September for a sure to be crammed Wine Cellar performance in support of Flying Nun legends The Subliminals, Ōtautahi's The Opawa 45s have handily gifted gig-goers an immersive taste of what to look forward to (if all goes to plan) with the glorious sonic sprawl of their 22 minute release Only Boring People Get Bored. Performed and recorded by Luke Wood (The Hex Waves, curator of the A Short Run: A Selection Of New Zealand Lathe-Cut Records exhibition) and Luke Shaw, live at Penny Lane Records earlier this month for the opening of the Cover to Cover exhibition, The Opawa 45s coax rugged scenic soundscapes from their Fender Jaguars and Vox AC30 amps, with sparks of brilliant colour flaring up from the duo's contemplative twin guitar drone ebb and flow. Word on the street is a double LP is on the way from The Opawa 45s, dive into their world with Only Boring People Get Bored below...
