Lontalius Shares Video For 'Someone Will Be There For You'

Annabel Kean / Monday 5th October, 2020 11:11AM

Eddie Johnston has mastered the art of multipurpose music video making in the simple yet hypnotising clip for 'Someone Will Be There For You', both extending the world of the song and clocking up some solid nap time. The title track for Johnston's third album as Lontalius (launching in two parts) lends itself to those lie-on-the-floor moments of total resignation, where you stare at a dead spider and a dusty bobby pin for an hour straight, recreated by co-directors Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou with support from NZ On Air. Johnston explained the lyrical context, and how it explores "those nights (and sometimes mornings) that you spend just lying around feeling defeated by the world, waiting for something to happen. We obviously took that idea literally...", as the Aotearoa songwriter remains horizontal throughout, and the camera plays with perspective amongst nests of wires and a pair of feet having a hoon on an exercycle. How low can Lontalius go? Find out here...

Side A to Lontalius' third album 'Someone Will Be There For You' is out later this year via Kartel Music Group.
