Here's Five: Adam Hattaway's Favourite Haunting Hits

Here's Five: Adam Hattaway's Favourite Haunting Hits

Half cherub, half crooner, Ōtautahi's Adam Hattaway is no doubt saving his voice for the Adam Hattaway And The Haunters nationwide tour, which kicks into gear tomorrow night in hometown venue Cassels Blue Smoke. At the start of the month Hattaway shared a warm and wonderful Martin Sagadin directed clip for their latest single 'Wasting Our Time', and announced the band's third full-length album Woolston, Texas is in the works for a March 2021 release. With that in mind, there's a good chance tour attendees will be treated to some new tunes performed by one of the most charming bands in Aotearoa. To celebrate the first show of eleven, Hattaway himself compiled five of his favourite haunting songs to get you in the spooky mood. Gig info and tickets available right here, and a fine selection of soul-stirring tracks not far below that...

1. Van Morrison - 'Who Was That Masked Man'

Been playing this at our Van Morrison shows…. a real outlier in his catalogue… super beautiful, and haunting fo' sho’!

2. Bob Dylan - 'Black Rider'

Dylan getting nice and creepy without it becoming silly - and he says ‘Cock’!

3. Mazzy Star - 'Look On Down From The Bridge'

I think it's about suicide, it’s haunting in a deeply sad and beautiful way.

4. Bruce Cockburn - 'The Charity Of Night'

This is just bonkers. But I like it.

5. Nina Simone - 'Four Women'

Seriously heavy. Gives me the shivers every time. She’s too good. Miss Simone. A sad story... a beautiful song.

Adam Hattaway and The Haunters' third full length album 'Woolston, Texas' is out Friday 26th March 2021.
