So much so, that it's warranted a whole new tour date to accommodate the waves of Tāmaki Makaurau Nux Vomica superfans. Moved a bit too slow to grab tickets for their Saturday 1st May show? Silicon and Purple Pilgrims have today been announced as special guests for The Veils’ nationwide Nux Vomica Live in Concert tour.

Silicon (the solo project of multi-talented musician Kody Nielson) will join The Veils for their Auckland and Wellington shows, while other-worldly duo Purple Pilgrims will bring their spacious and spellbound sound to all other tour dates.

The much-anticipated tour will mark the first ever live performance of the band’s legendary sophomore album Nux Vomica in its ferocious entirety.

The Nux Vomica Live in Concert tour is set to get underway in Dunedin on April 8 and wrap up at Auckland’s iconic Powerstation on May 1, with stops along the way in Queenstown, Christchurch, Mount Maunganui, Raglan, Napier and Wellington.

Early-bird tickets for the tour have now sold out, an update that coincides with news that the Raglan show has been upgraded to The Raglan Town Hall, to meet overwhelming demand.

In The Veils’ first tour of New Zealand since 2017 – and their first Auckland headline performance since 2014 – audiences will be treated to live renditions of the singles ‘Advice For Young Mothers To Be’, ‘Calliope’ and ‘One Night on Earth’, as well as the title track ‘Nux Vomica’ and the cataclysmic, roof-raising ‘Jesus For the Jugular’.

Their setlist also will feature a selection of cuts from their expansive album catalogue, alongside new and yet-to-be released music.

The album – which now boasts a special place in fans’ music collections across the globe – was originally recorded in Los Angeles with producer Nick Launay (PiL, Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and released on Rough Trade Records in 2006.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions, an exciting new line-up of Veils – old and new – will be hitting the road. This lineup will include Finn Andrews, Dan Raishbrook, Liam Gerrard, Dave Khan, Cass Basil and Joe McCallum.
