Miles Calder Shares Single 'Pushing & Pulling' + Live Video
2022 Tui Award finalist for Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa / Best Folk Artist, Miles Calder shares his shimmering new single ‘Pushing & Pulling’ alongside an acoustic live video version of the song, in anticipation of his nationwide release tour from 19th May. Centred around the rollercoaster of a growing romance, Calder marks the "point of accepting what you don’t control and deciding to be serenely resigned to go along for the ride… whether up or down, or both." The songwriter’s irresistibly smooth vocals and hopeless-romantic lyrics are uplifted by producer Samuel Flynn Scott’s (The Phoenix Foundation) own delicate backing and haunting synths, and further electrified by Chris Armour’s (who'll be joining Calder on tour as an acoustic duo) summery guitar fills...
“'Pushing & Pulling' was written within the rollercoaster of burgeoning love, and for me, it marks the point of accepting what you don’t control and deciding to go along for the ride… whether that's up or down, or both. Working with Sam Flynn Scott as a producer was a dream. He brought fresh ears to what the band and I already had together, and gave us licence to push the sound to something bolder and more punchy." — Miles Calder
