Danica Bryant Shares New 'Ego Death' EP
Following on from the success of snarky single ‘Crush’, Pōneke via Hawkes Bay alt-pop artist Danica Bryant has today dropped her sophomore Ego Death EP — a “sonic and thematic trip” that explores the ever-churning concept of self-image within various social contexts. Recorded with producer Johnny Avery, Ego Death deepens its introspectively witty lyrics with “chaotic, gritty and emotional” guitar hooks and delightfully rough vocals in the six tight-knit tracks. New single 'Tunnel of Love’ provides strong imagery of endless carousels in its pensive fear of a dead-end romance, inspired by her love of the double-edged Harley Quinn.
Ego Death’s green and pink visuals represent the EP’s contrasting sonic styles and themes, such as the cost of pursuing musical achievement in opener ‘Pipe Dream’, cherishing saltwater memories of Hawkes Bay friendships in ‘Counting Clover’, and pushing sapphic attraction to its extremes in ‘White Knuckles’. Bryant is set to make audiences across Aotearoa “cry and dance at the same time” on her Ego Death nationwide tour from next week onwards, scope out the dates below…
"‘Ego Death’ is an EP about searching for the balance between my artistic life and my daily self. It’s heartbreakingly personal yet often blatantly fictional. It exists in contrast, just like me." — Danica Bryant
