WHO SHOT SCOTT Unleashes Single / Video 'KIDS WANNA BE FAMOUS'

Tāmaki Makaurau-based rapper / producer WHO SHOT SCOTT aka Zaidoon Nasir maintains his winning streak with new audio-visual drop 'KIDS WANNA BE FAMOUS', launched on the eve of his performance at Saturday's all-star Going Global Artist Showcase event. Filmed while pacing on a treadmill under swirling lights, director Connor Pritchard's minimal yet dizzying visuals put a hectic spin on the artist's in-the-red anthem, lyrically resisting the euphoric temptations of alcohol abuse to find newfound strength in sobriety. “This song is about how I found inner peace within being sober... The first verse is the story of one of the lowest points of my life, and the last time I ever drank alcohol. In late 2020 I had one of those nights where I took things a little too far and ended up blacked out, sleeping face flat on a carpet. In hindsight, I’m super grateful for the experience being as gnarly as it was because it made me face a lot of my own insecurities and truly acted as the catalyst to my sobriety. The second verse is all about redemption. I’ve been sober now for almost two years and I owe all of the strides I’ve made in terms of self-growth to that decision. I gave myself one more chance to make everything right, and I’ll never take it for granted.

For KIDS WANNA BE FAMOUS, I wanted to fully embrace the gnarly energy of the song topic by including as many distorted guitars, punchy drums, and saturated effects as I possibly could. I utilised a lot of glitch techniques on my vocals and the overall production in order to fully embody the disjointedness of the whole ordeal." — WHO SHOT SCOTT
