We're thrilled to share the ninth episode of UTR presents Trash Recital Season 2 — starring Amamelia and Junny, produced by Sports Team and made with support from NZ On Air!

Our new episode stars Tāmaki Makaurau electronic artist Amamelia aka Amelia Berry with vocalist Junny aka Jennifer-Rose Tamati (Te Arawa (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Mākino) Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Ngāpuhi), performing their student radio smash hit 'Love is Useless'. Songwriter for Babyteeth and Fimo, one half of happy hardcore duo Van Staden & Böhm, and musical mastermind behind The Forbin Project, Berry is launching her second solo album under the Amamelia moniker Bananamelia! on 3rd November via Sunreturn. Amamelia and Junny popped into the UTR trash palace and chatted about their creative process, while whipping up a riveting new version of their lovelorn song using such upcycled objects as a bunch of old cans, a U bend plastic pipe, an electric fan, rolled up sheet of paper and lots more.

For each episode of Trash Recital we've invited some of our favourite Aotearoa artists into the UTR studios to perform one of their songs, re-created using everyday items selected from Sports Team's stockpile of recycled junk. Trash Recital not only provides a launchpad for stunning reimaginings of recent (and soon to be) classic tunes, but also the perfect opportunity for a chinwag with our local musical heroes.
