Mel Parsons Shares New Album 'Slow Burn'
Mel Parsons graces our Friday with her fifth studio album Slow Burn, the follow up to the Best Folk Artist / Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa award winner's 2018 long player Glass Heart. Written at the Lyttelton-based songwriter's home and polished off at LOHO studios with producer / multi-instrumentalist Josh Logan and band, featuring Aaron Stewart on bass and Parsons’ cousin Jed Parsons on drums and backing vocals, Slow Burn is an unabashedly big-hearted affair. Feeling not unlike the emotional weight of a turbulent past few years has been transmuted via some alchemical process into eleven lushly recorded folk ballads / torch songs, with the artist's powerful and expressive vocal skills shining throughout, don't miss Parsons touring Slow Burn nationwide in October and November...
“This is my fifth album, and my goal is still the same — I just want to make people feel something.
“The band came in fresh without having heard any of the songs... I think it gave the sessions a vital energy - it’s quite a different thing compared with recording songs that have been toured a lot prior to hitting the studio.” — Mel Parsons
