Back home from representing Aotearoa at this year's JBL x Martin Garrix Music Academy in Amsterdam, Papakura's FABLE shares his first single of 2023 ‘Popstar in Manix'. Paying homage to his suburban roots ('Manix' is Manukau), the Māori artist's new track rides an emotive alt-rock-infused groove, challenging stereotypes while re-envisioning "the popstar status of South Auckland". The uplifting accompanying clip directed by Oscar Keys features the legendary Wayne Anderson (Singer of Songs) as FABLE proudly reps his neighbourhood community — made with support from NZ On Air and dedicated "to all the South Pacific, South Auckland Popstarz".
