Flaxxies Unveil New 'Sunstruck' EP
Fizzing for their forthcoming tour uncorking next week, Tāmaki Makaurau’s indie-surf dubbers Flaxxies today release their Sunstruck EP. Produced and mixed by Tiki Taane at Tauranga’s 11B Studios, Flaxxies’ third EP emulates a golden Aotearoa roadie along the coast. Just like the vast range of landscapes our country has, the five-piece’s further fusion of genres like reggae, blues and rock have us swept up moment-to-moment in the wayward navigation of life as it passes us by. Highlights of the six-track release include the swirling guitar and rhymes of electro-surf rock crowd pleaser ‘Cast Me Away’ and the deep reggae tribute of ‘Brighter Days’. The culmination of their extended player doesn't shy away from the rougher side of individuality and growth, and you can expect to be nabbed along for a wind-in-your-hair ride on the Flaxxies tour. Grab tickets to their North Island performances before the day breaks again, and keep on the lookout for a Sunstruck South Island shows announcement soon…
"This EP is a really special one to us. A few of these songs speak on some tough and challenging topics of conversation. As an artist sometimes we have to be really vulnerable and go to some dark places in order to truthfully and authentically illustrate the message we are trying to spread to our audience." — Benji Humphries
