Bret McKenzie & The Beths - Going Global Music Summit New Speakers Announced

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 29th August, 2023 9:50AM

Going Global Music Summit 2023 is happening this Friday and Saturday at Tāmaki Makaurau's Roundhead Studios, hosting an info-packed smörgåsbord of keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities. New additions to the already bustling two day lineup of international and local special guest industry figures are Aotearoa's Grammy Award-winning Flight Of The Conchords alum Bret McKenzie, in conversation with Tony Kiewel of Sub Pop Records with moderator Sarah Thomson (NZ On Air) at 10am this Saturday, to be followed by an Artist Keynote Interview with Liz Stokes and Jonathan Pearce of power-pop stars The Beths — who might answer the question "how do you go from Whammy Bar to Barack Obama’s Summer Playlist in five years?"

More overseas guests announced include Steve Zapp (ITB, UK), Vaughan Quinn (Meredith & Golden Plains Festivals, AU), Nathan Wood (TikTok SoundOn, AU), Blake Rayner (The Orchard, AU) and Henry Compton (FUGA, AU) — plus previously announced speaker Dev Sherlock (Senior Music Programmer, SXSW) can no longer attend due to unforeseen circumstances. Brought to you by Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ) and the NZ Music Commission, head along HERE for the full two day Summit timetable and info about all the guests, plus peep the newly unveiled lineup details for both nights of the all-star Going Global Presents 2023 Artist Showcase below...

"We are incredibly excited to host such a diverse and accomplished lineup of international speakers for the Going Global Music Summit," said Pippa Ryan-Kidd, Chairperson at IMNZ. “As results show from past Going Global conferences, their insights and experiences will undoubtedly inspire and equip our local talent with the tools they need to succeed on the global stage. We are also very excited they will get to witness 21 incredible Kiwi bands showcasing at Going Global Presents across the two nights.” — Pippa Ryan-Kidd, Chairperson at IMNZ
