Sports Team Announce Projector Party #1: Scary Films Tour

Makers of our fabulous, just-concluded Trash Recital series (eclipsing all contenders in low-key quality and innovation over 26 episodes), video production gurus Sports Team channel Halloween's spooky spirit with a triple date Scary Films Projector Party tour. Doubling as fundraisers for their micro-budget Untitled Sports Team Horror Film project, which you can also support directly HERE, Sports Team's Annabel Kean and Callum Devlin (aka 95bFM's Hobby Goblins) are organising spine-chilling screenings in Tāmaki Makaurau, Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and our garden city Ōtautahi — opening up a hellmouth of local cinematic visions by Conor Bowden, Rhiannon McCall, Hamish Parkinson, Stella Reid, and more.

Also screening their The Beths concert movie Auckland, New Zealand, 2020 at Avondale's historic Hollywood Cinema on 14th November as part of the ongoing fundraiser driver, submit your own terrifying filmic works to be potentially included by Sports Team HERE, and read the official scoop straight from the horse's mouth...

"Announcing Sports Team’s Projector Party: An anything-goes curation of local filmmakers' no-budget explorations, touring the country this November. Given the season, the inaugural Projector Party screening series begins in Auckland Monday 6th with a spooky twist, featuring everything from gnarly body horror to pervy moons. This party's feature short (see what I did there) comes from the marvellous mind of Auckland-based filmmaker Conor Bowden. The Flat (Indie Short Fest's Best Mobile Short winner, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia official selection) follows the banal tension between two bickering flatties, oblivious to the threatening presence haunting their home. Following the Tāmaki kick-off, Sports Team take their creepy collection to Põneke’s Vogelmorn on Thursday 16th and to Õtautahi on the 19th at Space Academy.

Also on the line-up are offerings from 2024 Billy T Award nominee Rhiannon McCall, Billy T winner and Viva La Dirt League favourite Hamish Parkinson, award-winning Pōneke filmmaker Stella Reid and more.

Come along to the launch of Sports Team's Projector Party project and be amongst the very beginnings of a community celebrating unfunded hits and misses. Our ‘spooky’ gathering doubles as a fundraiser for Sports Team’s debut feature film - https://www.boosted.org.nz/projects/untitled-sports-team-horror-film. Future screenings won’t be for selfish reasons I promise."
