Mermaidens Announce Supports For Self-Titled Album Release Tour

Rocketing to the top of the Official Top 20 NZ Albums chart, Mermaidens' self-titled new album could well be the Pōneke power trio's crowning achievement. Having rolled out a visually gob-smacking array of music videos and even their own Merm-E-Mart pop up shop, Gussie Larkin, Lily West and Abe Hollingsworth now reveal special guests for their nationwide release tour commencing this weekend. They'll be supported on Friday at Ōtepoti's ADJØ Cafe by rising alt-rockers Fairuza (featured on the new Ōtepoti Music Compilation), plus SRN Award-winning shoegaze / dream-pop spellbinder T.G. Shand for Saturday's already sold out show at Ōtautahi's Space Academy (hope you grabbed tickets). Playing at Tāmaki Makaurau's opulent Hollywood Avondale on 8th December, the Merms will be joined by heavy-psych dynamos Earth Tongue (Larkin doing double duty on guitar / vox with Ezra Simons on drums / yowls) and synth-punk Power Nap (aka myself) bringing the boogie. Then it all wraps up in Te Whanganui-a-Tara from whence they emerged a decade ago, joined at San Fran on 9th December by Bleeding Star, who released their fuzz-drenched debut album Dropper earlier this year. Recorded with producer Samuel Flynn Scott (The Phoenix Foundation), order your copy of the new Mermaidens record on deluxe limited transparent blue vinyl LP if you haven't already HERE and get amongst at the following dates...
