Delaney Davidson Unveils New Album 'Out Of My Head'
Incontestably one of Aotearoa’s most influential and lauded contemporary songwriters, Delaney Davidson today presents his tenth studio album Out Of My Head. Co-produced by Mark Perkins aka Merk (who also lent his synths-pertise), the Lyttelton icon's politically focused country noir collection was recorded in Kurow and Diamond Harbour. With Davidson recently offering his magic touch to notable works by Tami Neilson, Marlon Williams and Troy Kingi, finally being able to pause and take stock of his own musical provisions allowed the artist to enrich Out Of My Head to a similarly world-class level. Expect introspective murder ballads, witty narratives and whisky-soaked blues, with a selection of songs co-written with Marlon Williams, Hayley Westenra, Sam Scott (The Phoenix Foundation) and Miranda Eastern. There’s also guest contributions from Williams on the bluesy, harmony filled ‘You Drive Me Wild’ (they made an excellent duo at 95bFM's Save The b fundraiser last December) and Reb Fountain on the tender slow burner ‘Heaven Is Falling’.
Davidson will soon tour Aotearoa with the Chamber Music New Zealand string ensemble, ready to charm punters with his Southern Gothic chops and audience interaction — tip your hat and grab tickets below…
