Leader of trailblazing Irish rebel group Éire Óg during the politically turbulent '90s era, Gary Óg is making his way to Aotearoa this November, with headline shows confirmed at Auckland Irish Society and Lyttelton's The Loons. Hailing from the Gorbals area in Glasgow, Scotland and raised amongst an Irish community ("many people, who were just off the boat from Ireland, settled in the Gorbals"), Óg's career spans three decades of rebel folk releases — including numerous popular live albums, 2003's Songs Of Rebellion and Éire Óg's influential 1997 debut album Live at the Brazen Head. Gary Óg, from Glasgow, has been one of leading figures in Irish rebel folk music for 30 years. He burst on to the scene with his first band, Éire Óg and their now iconic debut album Live at the Brazen Head influenced a generation of bands and musicians.
Since then, Gary has built up a world wide following; he has released a number of albums and has toured extensively across Europe, America and Australia as a solo singer and with his other bands.
Gary's unique singing voice, guitar skills and on stage presence has made him a hugely popular act and his live performances are enjoyed by all.
