Menzies Unleash Debut EP 'Spaghetti Land'
Menzies shake listeners out of their stupor with an almost noise collage-like, post-punk ruckus on the title track to their debut Spaghetti Land EP. First emerging from Te Whanganui-a-Tara's ever-morphing musical community in late 2023, the collective of Chris Brown (Friendlies), Miles Sutton (Welcomer, Prizegiving), Nikita Piper (Friendlies, Androgynous Lemon) and Doug Kelly (Doledrums, Girlboss) balance their sonically adventurous streak with forthright lyrical reflections on everyday emotions in the capital — swerving from the balladry of '8/10' to the no-wavey metallic riff-grunt of 'Sun & the Stars'. Mixed by Oliver Devlin of Hans Pucket fame, go catch Menzies toasting their joint musical statement, touring across Te Ika-a-Māui from 19th July onwards...
