What might you get if you accidentally leave garage rock 'n' roll, punk and 'kountry' in your jeans back pocket and then chuck them in the wash? GRRUNK is a new summer music festival hosting an absolute knockout selection of guitar-slinging special guests from overseas and all around Aotearoa, converging upon the bucolic setting of Galatea's Rory's Paddock in the beautiful Bay Of Plenty on 6th December.

The lovingly curated, all-killer bill is headed by Portland's country / western / rockabilly outlaws Jenny Don’t & The Spurs, whose previous visits to Aotearoa have caused a sensation, joined by Sydney's raw-rocking C.O.F.F.I.N, plus Melburnian riff-worshipers Hot Machine and The Gnomes. Helmed by award-winning songwriter Adam McGrath, Canterbury folk / country heroes The Eastern are heading up north for GRRUNK, with fellow garden city ambassadors Adam Hattaway & The Haunters also there to show attendees what Woolston rock 'n' roll is all about. Embodying Tāmaki Makaurau's primal garage punk spirit, Bloodbags will be throwing down following the recent release of their smashing debut album, plus there'll be sets by amp-frying champions of the new breed CCTV and Ōtepoti-based fuzz-pop song crafter Mads Harrop.

Featuring camping "with facilities on sight at no charge" and food trucks (BYO sandwiches is AOK too), look forward to ditching the inner city grind for a taste of the great outdoors at GRRUNK Festival from midday till midnight, with even more announcements to be revealed. Here is the official lowdown...

"The lush green lands of Galatea, hidden turf, bush, forest & terrain in the Bay of Plenty. Rolling plains. Majestic mountain ranges. A locale fitting for an event of note. Locals Gerrard & Rory conjured a plan. Weary of travelling north to the big smoke of Tamaki Makaurau for the killer rock & roll gigs, the scheme was hatched, bring those acts worthy of the effort, to the pastoral jewel in the crown, that is Galatea. Whack a handle on this idea of a festival, something eccentric & easy to remember, ergo “GRRUNK”!

Start mustering a bevy of acts to populate the bill for this Fest. A cabal of riffage, swing, attitude, aesthetic, entertainment that ain’t cut from the usual cloth."
