Rowena Wise Shares New Album 'Bad Things Feel Good*'
Embarking on a debut tour of Aotearoa New Zealand this spring, rising Australian songwriter Rowena Wise reveals an intimate and sure-footed collection of songs with her new sophomore album Bad Things Feel Good*. Produced by Rob Muinos — who also worked with Wise on 2024's breakout, Australian Music Prize shortlisted debut album Senseless Acts of Beauty — Bad Things Feel Good* was recorded at Collingwood's Ratshack Studios live with instrumentalists Richard Bradbeer (bass) and Jess Ellwood (drums).
This tangible, in-the-moment quality resonates with the record's broader themes of uncertainty and interstitial feelings; a ten song contemplation of "transformation and what it means to be flesh and blood." Wise roams shapeshifting terrain between folk-country, dream-pop and smouldering alt-rock, her voice so close to the mic it seems like every inhalation can be heard — cracking with emotion during the tender strum of 'Sum Of Two', recalling the worldly clarity of Mitski on oceanic ballad 'The Anchor'.
Hailing from Margaret River in Western Australia and now based in Naarm, Wise will soon be here in NZ for five date solo run of shows. Out today on limited edition vinyl LP, compact disc and digitally, dive in to Bad Things Feel Good* and catch the artist onstage in Tāmaki Makaurau, Pōneke, Whāingaroa, Ōakura, and Kerikeri — brought to you by The Slack Agency, Beloved Records, and Remote Control Records...
