
Weekly Round-Up: Friday 30th November
It has been yet another week of great tour announcements with the legendary Stone Roses announced to play their first ever New Zealand show in February on the back of Australia's Future Music Festival. Laneway Festival announced the addition of not one but TWO international up and comers to the 2013 lineup in Polica and Flume, legendary Jazz musician Mulatu Estatke has been announced to return in March for one Auckland show and good news if you missed out on Black Sabbath tickets, a second show has been announced with tickets on sale now. Lastly, that crazy Australian dude who opened for Grizzly Bear, Kirin J Callinan is still/back in the country and plays two shows in Wellington this weekend.
In other international music news: Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds announced the release of new album Push The Sky Away, members of Kyuss/Kyuss Lives have formed a new band called Vista Chino, Neil Young appeared on The Daily Show to discuss his new memoir Waging Heavy Peace and new music format Pono and brutal math-rockers Oxes cover Sheryl Crow and Bruce Springsteen on a new 7" alongside Will Oldham (aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billie) and Future Islands' Sam Herring - here's the Crow cover...
On the local front: we premiered the new clip from Badd Energy yesterday and confirmed the release of their new album via Flying Nun next Feb, Great North and French For Rabbits are up for Best Folk Album as part of the NZ Music Awards, we spoke to Die! Die! Die! about their recent European tour and also interviewed Auckland band Thee Rum Coves and who have just released their first official single.
