Weekly Round-Up: Friday 14th December

Weekly Round-Up: Friday 14th December

Friday 14th December, 2012 1:13PM

With the end of 2012 firmly in our sites we have been looking back on the year in music, contemplating our highlights and will be rolling them out in an Annual Round-Up next Friday. For now though, to the story of the week..

Yesterday morning the internet exploded with a mixture of horror, intrigue and wonder as reports circulated that Sir Paul McCartney would front a Nirvana reunion or sorts, rumoured to perform with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic at the Hurricane Sandy relief concert - 12.12.12 . Well it did happen but rather than raiding the Nirvana or Beatles' vaults, they performed a new track which you can check out in our caught live segment below.

The tour announcements may have eased this week but the tours themselves are rolling in thick and fast with Lagwagon, see our pictures over here, and Parkway Drive playing huge shows midweek;  Grimes kicked off her two date sold out tour last night in Wellington, see our pictures over here, and plays Auckland tonight;  Morrissey plays the first show of his two date tour tonight in Wellington and the mighty Devo, who we interviewed last week, take to the stage alongside Simple Minds and The Church tomorrow in Auckland - see below for full details and more gig action this weekend.

In local news, a burst of videos hit the web this week with Popstrangers releasing a new video for latest single 'Heaven'; The Dhdfds' released a black and white number for 'Babysitters Club' off their new album French Fries; Rackets released a home-video style clip for 'End of An Age from their latest EP; Urbantramper released a clip for 'Stephen Dedalus is My Homeboy' from their new album;  The Ruby Suns released a video for new single 'Kingfisher Call Me'; Australian duo The Presets released a new clip made by local creative power house Special Problems and we have new ones from  Princess Chelsea and Autumn Splendour coming soon.

Caught live this week we have, as mentioned, Sir Paul McCartney with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana debuting a new track 'Cut Me Some Slack' at 12.12.12...

And here is Tame Impala, who play Rhythm and Vines and Laneway Festival, performing 'Elephant' from new album Lonerism live on Later With Jools Holland...
