Weekly Round Up: Friday 19th June
Local tour news was particularly fruitful this week, with lots of our favourite acts planning to hit the road in the coming weeks/months. Auckland four-piece New Gum Sarn announced a seven-date tour of the country to coincide with the release of their debut album New Gold Mountain. Brain-bending trio The All Seeing Hand will be departing from the capital city for a string of shows around the country throughout July. Also coming out of Wellington, Glass Vaults have lined up a six-date jaunt to mark the release of their new single 'Sacred Heart'. Sticking closer to home is Auckland three-piece Rackets, who have arranged a 20-date tour of their hometown to coincide with the release of their new record. Dunedin neo-crust group Machina Rex will be coming up country for a bunch of shows in late June and early July. And emotional Auckland outfit Roidz have announced their for July. In terms of international acts, we have the legendary Ruts DC heading over to New Zealand for three shows in November. And The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion have revealed dates for to support the release of their new album Freedom Tower - No Wave Dance Party 2015.
In release news, we heard from Auckland noise-rock trio Lost Rockets, who shared the opening song from their forthcoming self-titled album, which will be out on cassette later this year. Former O'Lovely member Laura Lee, who is now based in London, has unveiled debut single debut solo single 'Little Too Late'. Elliot Brown aka Eli Driftwood released his new album Jingles 4 yesterday, but not before we could share the beautifully quaint single 'Nile, which features on the diverse 10-track record. In international news, we heard from doo-wop garage group Shannon And The Clams with their new single 'Corvette', which came with a cool video. Speaking of cool videos, New Yorkers Ratatat put out a great hand drawn clip for their single 'Abrasive' lifted from their forthcoming album Magnifique. The Eagles of Death Metal have unveiled single 'Complexity' as they prepare to drop new album Zipper Down. And Kurt Vile shared a teaser video for forthcoming record b'lieve I'm goin down.
